Privacy Policy

Mixy respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. This policy has been written to accurately reflect the data practices of the Mixy application ("the App") as of March 2026.

1. Information We Collect

a) Google Sign-In Data

When you sign in with your Google account, we receive:

• Display name — shown as your username in collaborative studios
• Email address — used for account identification
• Firebase User ID (UID) — a unique identifier used to store your data

We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, files, or any other Google account data beyond authentication.

b) User Profile Data (Firebase Realtime Database)

The following data is stored in our Firebase Realtime Database, linked to your user ID:

• Nickname — a custom display name you can set
• Piano game progress — scores and ratings for each song you play
• Drum game progress — scores and ratings for each song you play

This data is only accessible by you (authenticated with your Google account) and is used for leaderboard rankings and tracking your game progress.

c) Locally Stored Data (On Your Device Only)

The following data is stored only on your device using a local SQLite database and is never sent to our servers:

• App settings — your preferred language and theme
• Saved mixes — compositions you save locally (name, BPM, tracks, volume, color)
• Cached sounds — sound samples downloaded for offline playback
• Onboarding status — whether you've completed the first-time tutorial

d) Ephemeral Session Data (Online Studio)

When you join a collaborative online studio studio, the following data exists temporarily in server memory:

• Your user ID and display name (for studio participant list)
• Mix and track actions you perform in real-time
• Chat messages sent within the studio

This data is not persisted. It is deleted immediately when the studio session ends or when the server restarts. We do not retain any history of your collaborative sessions.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

Mixy does not collect:

• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Contacts or phone numbers
• Device identifiers (IMEI, serial number, advertising ID)
• Browsing history or usage analytics
• Crash reports (we do not use Firebase Crashlytics)
• Microphone or camera data

3. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and provide personalized features
• To display your nickname in collaborative studios and leaderboards
• To save and track your game progress across sessions
• To deliver the real-time collaborative music creation experience

4. Third-Party Services

Mixy uses the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase Authentication — handles sign-in securely. Firebase Privacy Policy
• Google Firebase Realtime Database — stores user profiles and game progress
• Google Firebase Remote Config — delivers feature flags and configuration updates (no personal data is sent)
• Google AdMob — displays interstitial advertisements. AdMob may collect device data for ad personalization. Google Privacy Policy
• Google Cloud Run — hosts our WebSocket server for real-time collaboration

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data is only shared with the Google services listed above as required for the App to function.

When you join a public studio, your nickname is visible to other participants in that studio. Your email address and Google profile are never shared with other users.

6. Data Storage and Security

• Cloud data (profile, game progress) is stored on Google Firebase servers with encryption at rest and in transit
• Local data (settings, saved mixes, cached sounds and saved studios) is stored on your device only
• Session data (studio state, chat) is held in server memory only and never written to disk

7. Data Retention

• Account data — retained as long as your account is active
• Game progress — retained as long as your account is active
• Studio and chat data — ephemeral, deleted when the session ends
• Local data — deleted when you uninstall the App

You may request complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time (see "Your Rights" below).

8. Children's Privacy

Mixy is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — view the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — update your nickname and profile information
• Deletion — request complete deletion of your account and data. You can also delete your data directly from the App's Settings screen.
• Withdraw consent — stop using the App at any time
• Data portability — request a copy of your data

10. Ad Personalization

Mixy uses Google AdMob to display interstitial ads. You can control ad personalization through your device settings:

• Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
• iOS: Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising → Disable Personalized Ads

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
